BenefitBump is a St. Louis–based startup that helps employees navigate pregnancy, adoption, and early parenthood benefits. Partnering with employers, they provide personalized guidance and support to simplify complex policies, improve outcomes, and reduce stress during major life transitions.
The Challenge
Benefit Bump needed to prove its value to employers while laying the foundation for a scalable, real-world tool. We needed to:
- Create a Realistic Prototype – Build a static, app-style demo to pitch to potential employers.
- Plan for Growth – Design a structure that could evolve into a fully functional, data-driven app.
- Simplify Complex Info – Present benefit details and processes in an intuitive, supportive way.
The Solution
We built the project in two strategic phases to balance speed, scalability, and polish.
- Phase 1: Prototype – Designed and developed a clickable web-based demo that simulated app functionality, including sign-up, scheduling calls, benefit calculators, and form submissions.
- Phase 2: Full App Build – Developed a hybrid mobile and web app with an admin dashboard for managing employers, user groups, benefits data, and real-time reporting.
- Integrated Tools – Added live chat, scheduling, and calculators for HSAs, FSAs, and plan costs.
- Secure Infrastructure – Built scalable systems for user validation, form submission, and reporting while protecting sensitive employee data.
The Results
The result was a comprehensive, flexible platform that evolved seamlessly from concept to reality. The prototype helped Benefit Bump secure interest from employers, while the full app empowered users to navigate their benefits with clarity—supporting everything from scheduling consultations to submitting FMLA forms. The final product positioned Benefit Bump as a trusted resource for working parents and a valuable partner for HR teams.
