David Peoples
Senior Web Application Developer
We haven’t asked him outright, but we’re pretty sure that if David weren’t a programmer, he’d make an excellent mad scientist — minus the “mad” part. He has a knack for thinking through a process from start to finish, anticipating bumps in the road, and finding practical solutions when curveballs inevitably appear. Add more than thirty years of experience to the mix, and it’s easy to forgive his tradition of shouting “It’s Alive!” every time we launch a new site.
David lived in several states (Kansas, Michigan, Kentucky) while growing up, but settled in St. Louis after moving there to attend college at Washington University. He currently lives with his wife in Chesterfield. When he’s not working, David enjoys biking, hiking, backpacking, traveling in general, and making things like camping trailers and model railroads.
Q&A with David…
“I don’t have a good eye for color or composition, but I would love to be a good painter.”
“I like to sew; learned how when I was 12, and have used that skill off and on ever since. More than half of the equipment I use for backpacking I made myself, including tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and performance outerwear.”
“My biggest joy about this career is that the learning never ends. My official college degree has no direct connection to any of the jobs I’ve had after graduating, but I always say that what I got out of that education was “learning how to learn”. That skill has helped me succeed ever since.”
“The best projects and relationships happen when both sides of the partnership really understand and pay attention to what the other partner needs. We developers can work to grasp all the important details of the problem to be solved. Our clients can build their understanding of how our processes and development tools make some solutions easier or harder to create than others. When both sides are equal participants in the decision making process, great results happen.”
“I am a moderator for a Discord community that is centered around a YouTube and Twitch content creator who focuses on storytelling through Anime. So, I use Discord every day, and Twitch, YouTube, and various Anime streaming services almost as often.”
