Bing has Bling!
May 29
Since the beginning of time, Google has grown accustomed to handily disposing of its search engine rivals and competitors, but are those days finally coming to an end? Has Google finally met its match?
Next up in the contenders’ corner – Microsoft’s Bing. Check out a few reviews of Bing and a short video that illustrates how it feels it may knock off the Champ.

I think it’s a good thing that Google will have a legit (if only for a week) competitor in search. While Google has made great strides in other areas with Google Labs it seems as though they’ve gotten complacent with search. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality kills innovation.
Unfortunately, from what I can tell Bing is just Live with a new design.

Any thoughts on the name? I read somewhere that they chose it because it represents sort of an “aha!” moment (light bulbs turning on and such). All I can think of is Chandler

Not sure where the name originated…but it looks to be live now:

I really like the way you can navigate to multiple pages within a site all under one search result listing. For example, if you “bing” something like “Scottrade”, the top organic listing has links to Branch Locator, Signup, Stocks, Mutual Funds, About…etc.
This way I don’t have to sift through multiple search results if I’m looking for one of those pages specifically.
