Q&A - James Fawcett
Favorite thing to do outside of work:
I don't generally pick favorites, but I tend to enjoy pretty physical activities. I like camping/hiking with my kids, canoeing, cycling. I took up amateur boxing a while back - it's a blast. And if I've confirmed one thing as a result, it's that getting punched in the face actually does hurt.
If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
I think it'd be George Foreman. I'm a boxing fan, and he's one of the greats. He's fought the greats, so I'm sure he's got some real stories to tell. But what I'd really want to know... was the George Foreman Grill his idea? I'm sure I could look that up on Wikipedia, but I bet it's WAY more interesting to hear him tell it.
Are you a Mac or a PC?
I'm a PC.
One thing about you that would surprise people:
Some people are surprised that I'm half Taiwanese. Other half-Taiwanese people can always tell though.
The best thing about owning your own business:
Probably the best thing is being able to have my kids in the office and not worry that the boss will get ticked about noisy kids running around (not that I don't sometimes get ticked about noisy kids running around).
What do you want for Christmas?
I think this year what I'd really like is a couple of extra hours, but not just a couple of extra hours all at once, maybe a couple of extra hours every day.
Name three things on your desk right now:

1. Bottle of Tropiclean Color Enhance Kava pet shampoo

2. A variety of empty beverage containers

3. A Craftsman 15mm combination wrench
(Cleaning my desk is definitely on my to-do list)
What's got the top spot on your bucket list?
I'd love to canoe the length of the Missouri River. I've done about 300 miles of it, but that's only about 12% of the total length, and I've only paddled the muddiest part of it.
If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Whatever it is, it better be big if it's got to last me the rest of my life.
Most underappreciated user-interface device:
The ergonomic split keyboard.
Is Lance a cheater or not?
That's a tough one. The guy's amazing either way (he's competed against some top-notch riders, confirmed cheaters, and beat them). Lance has probably been the most scrutinized athlete in history, and the most drug-tested, and he's yet to fail.
What's your dream car?
I'd love to have a 1971 Chevy Suburban 4x4. They only came with three doors back then and looked super cool. The 4x4 versions are fairly rare these days, and a truck like that would be pretty impractical, but it'd be a really fun restoration project. White wouldn't be my color of choice, but something like this...
Favorite non-profit:
The non-profit I'm most involved with is the Greenway Network. They promote all sorts of environmental initiatives here in St. Charles county and beyond. We work with them every year to host the annual Race For the Rivers, a canoe and kayak race here on the Missouri River.
