RDS owner, Mike Whelan, contacted us in May because he was concerned about the performance of his website rdshomeplans.com. The site was generating some traffic, but not as much as expected, and he wasn’t sure if he was attracting the right customers. The amount and quality of the traffic were a big concern, especially considering the deteriorating state of the housing market. After evaluating Mike's website, objectives and budget, we determined that Search Engine Optimization was a good fit for RDS.

Keyword research showed that Mike’s site was not ranking highly in the major search engines for many search terms that drive a lot of traffic in the house plans industry. After determining which keyword phrases presented the greatest sales opportunity for RDS, we updated the site’s content, meta data, linking structure and source code in order to optimize for top positions in the search engines. We also made several usability enhancements to the homepage in order to help with conversion rates. Optimization was completed in mid June, and the site began to realize the benefits of SEO very quickly--in just one month’s time.

By the end of July, RDSHomePlans.com had obtained 40 rankings in the top 10 search results across the major search engines, and we expect that number to increase even more with time and strategic management. This contributed to a traffic increase of 43%, a pageview increase of 56%, and because the new traffic was better targeted, a bounce rate decrease of over 1%.
