case study - FunnySpoon
When the folks at FunnySpoon came to us all they had was a logo and a big idea. The concept was that FunnySpoon.com would be an online resource to help busy families make simple, delicious and nutritious meals at home. To make mealtime as painless as possible, all recipes would be brand centric, thus making grocery shopping easy and seeming accessible to the at home cook who may be intimidated by a list of exotic, hard to find ingredients.
Our challenge was to design the site around the simple goals of communicating the core message and encouraging visitors to join the community. As always, we began this project with a thorough discovery and strategy phase that included extensive market research, brand development and marketing strategy as well as a review and retooling of the FunnySpoon logo and brand identity. Once we had a firm grasp of the competitive landscape and a solid plan for FunnySpoon's business and marketing strategy we were ready to move into website design and development.
Apart from the standard activities involved with this stage of production, FunnySpoon also required a means to organize, store and navigate the countless recipes and accompanying photography that it would soon be home to. To provide this kind of dynamic functionality, we developed a custom application and user-friendly content management system that gave FunnySpoon.com and its administrators the capability necessary to bring their vision to life.
Since it was launched in October, FunnySpoon has garnered a considerable amount of media attention and now features more than 230 user-submitted recipes! We continue to work with FunnySpoon to make adjustments and improvements to the site in response to user behavior and continued growth.
